When we moved out we left the house completely spotless. We had the carpets professionally cleaned and we literally turned over the keys with the house being immaculate.
On our move out, we spent a day cleaning and scrubbing baseboards, stove, fridges, got carpets cleaned and the whole nine yards. We got dinged for $275 for cleaning and removing the "soot" throughout the house from the fireplace that we NOT ONCE used the entire year we rented. They also charged us $400 for painting baseboards, filling some nail holes, and replacing some light bulbs (which we left there for them).
Because it's the best around
1 month later we get our portion of our deposit back where they deducted $800 for a cleaning fee and a fee for a broken blind that was already broken when we moved in. This is a very expensive company with horrible communication and they were down right wrong for taking $800 from us when we left the house in better condition than it was when we moved in.
Not satisfied at all. We had a problem with our rental and they actually said sorry we can't help you with that. Do not use southern rentals especially perdido keys.
Out of the many properties we rented from various rental agencies, this was by far the poorest ran of them all. We had multiple problems with the air conditioners (which were new units). We had the HVAC company come out at LEAST 4 times (which took forever to get them out there). The result: "We don't know what to do, we have to call the manufacturer." We had the pump back up multiple times and leak throughout the foyer, the heat wouldn't work unless it was on emergency heat. We also had mold growing out of the vents, with no resolution the ENTIRE year we were there. After spending $2400 on rent per month, and never being late, we expected at least some kind of rectification.
We had a bat infestation in the beginning of our lease and it took over a week for someone to get back to us and another week or so for someone to do anything about it.
This company is complete garbage. We rented a house from them in Lost Key for $2400 a month. While we were living there it was nearly impossible to get anything fixed. We had a horrible bat infestation and more air conditioning problems than you could imagine.
I want to take a minute to express my sincere gratitude to the crew in the Perdido Key office for going above and beyond the call of duty during our recent stay there. After a rogue storm left us with a damaged vehicle, Miranda drove to the property to try to help us out and Cory actually drove me to a local store to get parts so we could head for home. We have vacationed on the gulf coast for a decade without a regard for the rental agent but after this trip I will definitely be looking forward to working with Southern for our next vacation!
We were extremely shocked at the $720 they kept from our deposit after all the stuff they said was done to the property after we moved out. We think it was extremely exaggerated! We took very good care of the house as it were our own. We have great references from other rental agencies we've used. Very disappointed in how the company handled things.
