We stopped here while in town helping my dad move. Had a group of five. Service was efficient, courteous and professional. (We had Courtney serving is) We started out with the sampler of crab cakes, fried green tomatoes, and shrimp. The sauces were fantastic they accompanied each component. For the entrees we had a wide range. Between us all we had a salad which was obviously made with fresh quality ingredients, chicken and waffles, fried chicken, and the seafood sampler. I had the fish, shrimp and cheese grits. There was no one leaving hungry. The portions fair, and of high quality. The atmosphere is relaxed with blues music, of course, playing. The music wasn't too loud when we ate. If you're in Pensacola get here and eat. You won't be disappointed. My only regret, we were too full for dessert. lol
Very cool jazz atmosphere but the food was not good at all. We went for Sunday jazz brunch. We had the special which was Biscuits and Gravy wtih Fried Chicken Tenders and home fries. There were 3 in our party and we all thought the chicken was bland. The biscuits were not even homemade. They were biscuits from a can with the unmistakable "canned biscuit" flavor. The home fries were cold and unremarkable. The only thing this place has going for it is the atmosphere and the friendly hostess as the food was seriously disappointing.
Overrated. Nice atmosphere, and jazz brunch is fun and fine, but best fried chicken? Nah, it needs seasoning. Pulled pork, dry. Sides aren't bad but nothing outstanding, just salty. Bread pudding - the pudding itself was pretty good but the rum sauce was lousy, gritty, the sugar wasn't even dissolved. I have a family member who loves this place but I'll pay for his dinner if we can go someplace else.
We were so excited to go here!! The menu looked so great! Well...we were very dissapointed! It is cafeteria food. We were a party of seven and no one liked it. Two people had the fish and grits and they said it tasted like it was reheated in the microwave. The mac and cheese was lukewarm and totally congealed. The fried okra was very good. Two people had the fried chicken and agreed that the legs were good and the breasts were totally dry.
Was my first time going. I read reviews and decided to try. I had a to go order but the inside of the cafe is super nice..staff seemed very friendly. Food was pretty tasty..the only reason I give 4 stars is because it honestly is pricey for the side portion sizes they give. Sides could use some work.
