I wish that I could award less than a star. NO STAR.
I had a very unfortunate event happen resulting in the loss of my baby boy. The staff was very nice and caring and understood my wishes. I am very pleased with the services I received.
I attended a funeral this last weekend. The body was laid on an autopsy table with miss matching quilts laid over him. I called the owner and was told that it was supposed to be for family members and wasn't meant to be a funeral at the beginning. I told him even for family members the quilts could at least match. I'm an aunt. I was courteous but told the gentlemen that I would probably not consider using them and he abruptly hung up on me. Poor customer service.
Though they tried to make amends and immediately tried to correct their mistakes, offered a refund and free urn jewelry, months later I have a bad taste in my mouth about this funeral home.
We have used Trahan services before. They were accommodating to our needs. We did experience an error in their service but they were more than helpful in making it right.
The big cherry on top of this whole experience? While I, a grieving customer, was redoing a candle that we had ordered for Trahan to create, one of the employees set my Grandmothers ashes down crudely on a table in front of me in a clear plastic bag. My last physical memory of my Grandmother is now seeing her ashes in a plastic bag tossed down in front of me.
These are all mistakes that should have never happened in the first place, and my family and I should have never had to deal with these issues in our time of mourning.
In an already difficult time, my grandmother was cremated a day before my family was scheduled to see her body. The service barely mentioned her and the pastor that was brought in didn't even cover the long list of facts and experiences that we worked days to create. The service felt forced and cold, even for a funeral.
The staff who answers the phone is rude and uninformed. I was waiting to review in hopes that when services were finally rendered, they would offer an explanation or apology for their mishap and mishandling of our deceased loved one. TO NO AVAIL. Do not use this company. They do not return calls and lack professionalism. I am appalled. I repeat, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
I've struggled a lot over the months with posting this or not, but finally decided that if this post can save anyone the heartbreak that we still feel (beyond the loss of our loved one), it's worth it.
Worst experience of my life.
I do not recommend this company. They failed to perform services for my grandfather in the past few weeks. They allege that they needed payment for services yet would not accept payment from my grieving mother. They were aware of the timeline for the funeral and still failed to notify any family member of their needs. Almost two weeks after the death, they advise our family that the cremation HAD NOT BEEN PERFORMED. So, my dear Papa was just sitting in some fridge for two weeks.
